Turning Turquoise

Feature Magic

An effective way to introduce turquoise as a large accent is by utilizing the color in a large item like a sofa or art. Whether in the living room, bedroom, or even a hallway, a feature wall draws immediate attention and becomes the room's focal point.

The Jewel-Tone Flush

For those seeking an even more immersive experience, consider embracing the jewel-tone flush by extending the turquoise color throughout the entire room, including moldings and ceiling. To avoid overwhelming the space, incorporate neutral elements and natural materials, such as wooden furniture and earth-tone textiles (even though I LOVE this color with a bright red).

Pairing with Complementary Colors

Turquoise wall colors harmonize beautifully with a range of complementary hues, allowing you to customize the ambiance to your taste. For a serene and coastal vibe, pair turquoise with soft beige woods and creamy whites. To create a vibrant and energetic space, combine it with reds and gold. The key is to strike a balance and let turquoise take center stage while other colors support it in the room.

DONT’S

  • Too Much Color

  • Boring Walls

  • The Wrong Shade

In the world of interior design, colors come and go, and often times they’re a mere deviation from a current trend. This year, I wrote about how blue is one of the coolest colors to paint your room with… no pun intended. But is Turquoise the next deviation? My gut says… yes! Among the myriad of colors available, turquoise stands out for its captivating beauty and versatility. Turquoise & Teal are beautiful blends of blues and greens. Maybe even more relaxing than blue? When used as large accents and combined with different textured paints, this color can infuse any space with a mesmerizing jewel-tone effect that exudes elegance and sophistication. I think often we associate it with more earthy environments, but I do see it creeping into modern as well.

The Allure of Turquoise

Turquoise has a unique ability to capture the essence of nature and deep waters. As an accent color, it draws attention and serves as a focal point, making it ideal for creating striking feature walls. Its versatility allows it to pair well with a range of interior styles, from bohemian and coastal to modern and traditional.

Embracing Texture: The Art of Layering

Texture plays an essential role in interior design, adding depth and dimension to surfaces. When combined with turquoise wall colors, different texture paints can elevate the room's visual appeal, for example; high gloss, plaster, or lime-wash. The interplay of light and shadows on these textured or glossy surfaces can enhance the richness of this color.
