How To Make a Plaster Lamp

I wanted a nice chunky lamp for my den. I couldn’t find anything I liked that was my price range. I decided to look up a couple of ways to DIY a plaster lamp. I took the risk and tried to do it out of the garage. I must say, it was a lot easier than I thought! Took about 3 days, maybe just a couple of hours total.

Here are the instructions below:

1. Cut your concrete form tube to desired height and wooden base and lid. (always clamp wood to stabilize it, and wear goggles for safety!)
2. Drill round hole in tube for the light’s wire to exit, and a hole in lid for the wire to run through but not so big where it falls through.
3. Add wooden corner bracket to tube and glue it on to the base and around the tube.
4. Install wiring and glue around that area, run the wire through the hole on the tube.
5. Glue wooden lid to the top of tube.
6. Paint with bonding paint in white.
7. Cover entire lamp with drywall tape (use gloves!)
8. Mix the plaster
9. Run plaster all around the lamp
10. Let it dry 💅🏽
11. Sand if needed
